“Likes And Dislikes Of Marj Bagley” is a documentary-based stop motion film written and directed by Taylor Stanton. Stanton narrates the history of his grandmother’s death in an emotion-driven piece that called for rich, lush soundscapes to underscore the story’s meditative core.

Animation is naturally challenging due to its initial absence of sonic references–aka creating a sonic palette from scratch. This project also brought the added element of no dialogue, which meant framing “live” and narrative sound around the visual story on display.Projects like this are especially exciting because the intended result is so specific that every piece needs to come together in a near-perfect way. This project did just that.
